COACHES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The importance of development

RLSSA recommends that all Officials who become accredited continue to upgrade their knowledge.

The professional development program aims to raise the overall quality of Officials within pool lifesaving by ensuring they are provided with ongoing education and development opportunities covering areas such as:

  • Keeping abreast of the latest information on developments within lifesaving as a sport

  • Receiving the latest general and specific safety information related lifesaving as a sport

  • Having access to the most up-to-date techniques and rules for lifesaving as a sport

Competition Events

There is no better professional development then coaching a group of children or athletes for an event and seeing how they go and how they have improved. Why not consider a self or peer assessment of your coaching efforts. It may be just what you need to learn and grow

Coaching Workshops

As part of the RLSSA Coaching Accreditation System, all Coaches, Coaches, Facilitators, Assessors and Mentors  are required to attend a state/territory or National Coaching and Officiating workshop at least  once every three years.

If for some reason you are unable to attend, you will need to record your professional development activities in your online profile or in this Logbook / and present it as part of the re-accreditation process.

You should also retain evidence of the activity (e.g. copies of peer reviews, attendance records) in case you are asked to provide it to support your re-endorsement.
