In 2017, RLSSA undertook a review of pool lifesaving participation with the aim of identifying gaps and opportunities for growth across the lifesaving pathway. The review identified a number of areas for development, including improving access to pool lifesaving training and resources, and increasing awareness and exposure of pool lifesaving as an aquatic sport.
RLSSA SPORT HUB – OVERVIEW
RLSSA has launched the “Sport Hub”, an online portal for pool lifesaving participation, learning and community engagement. The Hub provides current and prospective pool lifesaving volunteers, coaches, athletes, officials and facilitators with access to knowledge, resources and the broader pool lifesaving network to continue their journey in swimming and lifesaving whether that be in the pool, on pool deck, in the community or abroad.
Key features of the Sport Hub include:
An integrated e-learning portal that is synchronised to user accounts, as well as an in-built accreditation system, activity log and Skills Register, allowing users to develop a resume of skills and experience
Extensive e-learning library including courses across topics of pool lifesaving, general sport and soft skills
News and Event Calendar
A categorised resource library containing documents, videos and images, including competition and event management resources, participation resources, templates, forms, promotional materials and educational materials.
Full access to the Sport Hub, including the learning portal and resource library, requires a subscription. Upon subscribing to the Hub, no additional fees apply for accessing the learning portal or resource library. Non-subscribers still have limited access to participation information, news and events on the Sport Hub.
Information, resources and courses will be to the Hub on an ongoing basis.
