Royal Life Saving Society – Australia (RLSSA) is pleased to confirm its participation at the Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving 2019, to be held in Leeds, UK, from 21st to 23rd November 2019.
Combining the Commonwealth Lifesaving Challenge and Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships, the Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving aims to encourage participation in lifesaving sport and further development of lifesaving practices, as well as bringing the lifesaving family together.
The RLSSA team will be looking to retain the National and Development Team Championship titles it won at the inaugural event in Durban in 2017, which included teams from England, Scotland, Canada, Mauritius, Hong Kong, India and South Africa.
David Macallister, National Sport Advisor, commented “The Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving 2019 provides a key development opportunity for upcoming pool lifesaving athletes, coaches and team managers, not only to experience international competition but to come together with the wider Commonwealth lifesaving community in celebrating pool lifesaving sport and as a vehicle for encouraging lifesaving participation.
“Along with the RLSSA team, we are proud to have strong representation from our dedicated RLSSA volunteers who have been appointed as officials and mentors at the Festival, providing leadership and guidance for participants attending the Festival from across the Commonwealth.”
